The Tourniquet Gen.7 Combat Application, like its predecessors, was developed for the rapid occlusion of life-threatening hemorrhages on the extremities. It can prevent massive blood loss and has replaced classic pressure bandages in today’s combat units. The tourniquet is part of the standard personal medical equipment in many military units. It allows you to treat comrades or yourself quickly, giving medics more time for treatment in an emergency.
It is applied to the injured limb and then the windlass is twisted to lock it. The time is noted on the top of the white hook-and-loop strap so that the pressure can be released at regular intervals to prevent tissue necrosis.
