The USP Compact, at just 17.3 cm in length, is the smallest pistol so far from the H&K gas series. The workmanship of both the weapon and the magazine is very well executed. The slide is made of full metal and produces a pleasant metallic sound when cocked and released. The grip made of ABS plastic is textured and sits very well in the hand. All markings on the barrel and under the trigger (such as the H&K logo, caliber designation) are in striking white. The blowback effect causes the full-metal slide to cycle after every shot and, together with the functioning slide stop, provides a realistic shooting experience. The magazine is also made of metal and can be easily filled thanks to the spring that can be locked at the base. If desired, the rounded magazine base can be swapped for the included flat magazine base. A hidden additional safety is installed in the magazine well, which can be activated using the supplied turning key. To do this, simply turn it 90°, and the weapon can no longer be cocked or fired. Another tool is used to adjust the hop-up system, which is concealed in the ejection port. Depending on temperature and gas type, 50–60 shots can be fired with one gas fill.
