The Sonic Defenders Ear Pro EP3 from Surefire are impulse hearing protectors with the patented Hocks Noise Braker filter system, which enables normal conversations, allows ambient noise to be perceived almost unadulterated and reduces impulse noise to a tolerable level.
Another option is to use stopper plugs, which help to dampen all ambient noise (recommended for continuous noise levels of 85 decibels or more).
